Cactus with Sequins to Stick
Add a touch of spice to your home by crafting our cactus with stick-on sequins!
This awesome craft activity will introduce children to the famous technique of stick-on sequins combined with cutting and gluing.
We've even prepared a free template to print to make this craft even easier (click on "Technical Sheet" below the main photo)!
How to complete this tutorial step by step?
Materials:
To make a cactus, you will need:
- A cactus model to print
- A polystyrene board 20 x 30 cm (thickness 2 cm)
- Colored paper sheets (130 g/m²)
- Sequins
- Pins
- Fabric flowers
- Two individual movable eyes Ø 2.5 cm
- A white paint marker
- A glue stick
- An eraser
- A wooden pencil
- A pair of scissors
Step 1:
Cut a sheet of blue paper to the dimensions of the polystyrene board (20 x 30 cm).
Step 2:
Glue the sheet of paper onto the styrofoam board with a glue stick.
Step 3:
Cut a strip with a wavy edge from a sheet of yellow paper and glue it.
Step 4:
Print our free template, cut out the shape of the cactus, and layer it on a sheet of green paper.
Then trace the outlines.
Step 5:
Cut out and glue the cactus onto the drawing.
Step 6:
Glue two movable eyes Ø 2.5 cm and draw the mouth with a white paint marker.
Step 7:
Layer a sequin on a fabric flower and then secure everything with a pin.
Repeat the process several times on the drawing.
Step 8:
Still using the same technique, this time only plant green sequins all around the cactus.
Then plant sequins of various colors all over the design.
