Collages tribute to Delaunay
Create an abstract art piece in the style of Robert Delaunay (1885-1941). A cubist artist, Delaunay draws his inspiration from light and his reflections on objects, using bright and warm colors. He paints round shapes influenced by his observations of the sun and the moon.
You can also design vibrant artworks and explore color combinations with our colored card shape kit.
We provide the steps to follow below, but feel free to create your own color combinations!
How to complete this tutorial step by step?
The Material
For this activity you need:
- a kit of 550 round shapes in colored thick cardboard (ref 46022)
- colored cards 25 x 35 cm
- a tube of glue
- a pair of scissors
Step 1
Here we have chosen the 3 primary colors for the shapes, as well as for our supporting leaves: yellow, red, and blue.
To bring contrast to the collages, we will also use black shapes.
Step 2
For the first board, we used a yellow background. The shapes to stick will therefore be the other colors: red, blue, and a little bit of black.
Detach each shape and stick them randomly onto your support using glue.
Step 3
For the blue background painting: we arranged the shapes to make them symmetrical
Finally, for the 3rd painting, the red one: we cut the shapes to create new geometric shapes and thus use all the colors.
Step 4
Here are 3 coordinated paintings that can now be displayed!
