Jesmonite
Jesmonite is an eco-friendly casting paste that hardens in the air. As resilient as resin but lighter, its water-based components make it a more environmentally friendly choice. It is made from mineral filler powder and a liquid (acrylic and water). Jesmonite is known for its versatility, durability, and quick drying time. A new trend in creative activities, this innovative casting technique allows for the creation of all sorts of objects: coasters, jewelry boxes, trays, candle holders, and more...
Great creative versatility: Jesmonite can be poured, molded, sculpted, and textured to create a wide variety of shapes and designs. Want to color your creations or create marbling effects? Use pigments designed for Jesmonite. Additionally, pigments can be mixed together to create endless shades.
Once hardened, Jesmonite is solid, resistant to impacts and cracks, and can last a long time without deteriorating. It is suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications.
The surface of Jesmonite can be sanded, polished, painted, stained, and even varnished with a gloss finish. Without varnish, Jesmonite will have a matte finish.
Relatively easy to work with, once the mixture is ready, you have about 5 minutes to pour it into your chosen mold. For easy demolding and precise details, we recommend using silicone molds . Super flexible, they are the most suitable for this technique.
Fast drying: Jesmonite has a relatively short curing time, which means that projects can be completed more quickly than with some other casting materials (resin, plaster, or concrete). Once the mixture is prepared, it will set within 5 to 8 minutes, and the object can be demolded after only 2 hours. Allow the creation to fully harden for 24 hours before varnishing, sanding, or any other treatment.
Jesmonite is often used to create architectural elements, custom furniture, decorative items, sculptures, kitchen countertops, flooring, bathroom sinks, jewelry, and much more.
Its popularity lies in its ability to offer both great artistic freedom and functional durability. However, as with any material, it's important to follow the manufacturer's instructions and best working practices to achieve the best results.
