In this activity, children will create a lovely Father's Day gift in 2 parts:
- the first part involves customizing a wooden tape measure with paint and stickers
- the second part consists of making a pretty card to present with the measuring tape
A very practical Father's Day gift that dads who love DIY (or not) will adore!
How to complete this tutorial step by step?
Materials
To carry out this activity, you will need:
- a wooden crafting ruler
- acrylic paint and a paintbrush
- alphabet stickers
- felt star stickers
To create the card, you will need:
- a strong white A4 card (300 g/m³)
- masking tape
- alphabet stickers
- a bow tie sticker
- a photo
- a pair of scissors
- a glue stick
Step 1
Paint the wooden meter with acrylic paint and let it dry for about 15 minutes.
Step 2
Decorate the meter by sticking adhesive letters to form the word "DAD" as well as colorful felt stars.
Step 3
To make the card, cut a rectangle of 21 x 10 cm from a thick white card (i.e., an A4 sheet cut into 3).
Step 4
Decorate the edges of the card with masking tape.
Step 5
Cut and then paste a photo at the bottom of the card.
Step 6
Stick adhesive letters at the top of the card to form the word "DAD".
Step 7
Write "I love you..." below the word DAD.
Step 8
Draw the markings of a ruler on the edge of the card to give a little nod to the measuring tape that will be offered with the card.
Step 9
Complete the "I love you" by writing circumstantial complements to align with the graduations.
For example:
- more than anything
- to madness
- passionately
- a lot
You can then circle your preferred complement.
Étape 10
Finish the card by sticking a nice paper bow at the top of it.
