In this activity, we will create a beautiful wall plaque that captures the handprints of babies and young children!
A little paint to mark the handprint, some paper to create a pretty photo outline, and colorful letters to personalize the creation. Besides being a wonderful keepsake, this lovely plaque can also be given as a gift for Mother's Day / Father's Day.
How to complete this tutorial step by step?
Materials
To create this board you will need:
- a wooden board (20 x 10 cm)
- patterned cardstock
- gouache paint
- a foam roller
- sticky letters
- a pair of scissors
- gel adhesive dots
- adhesive rhinestones
Step 1
Introduction: depending on the size of the child's hands, use the board horizontally or vertically.
Cut out a rectangle (here, 9 x 7 cm) from a patterned cardstock and then glue it to the board using adhesive dots placed on each corner of the rectangle.
Step 2
Cut out a photo and glue it with adhesive dots onto the patterned card.
Note: gel adhesive dots create a nice 3D effect!
Step 3
Write a first name with colored adhesive letters.
Step 4
Apply gouache (or acrylic paint) to the child's hand using a foam roller.
Step 5
Press your hand onto the plate to make the imprint.
Then let the paint dry for 45 minutes.
Step 6
For even more colors, you can complete the decoration by sticking on adhesive rhinestones!
