Montessori Activity: I'm Learning to Count
Discover a simple Montessori-inspired method that will enable your children to learn to count on their fingers!
This easy activity will allow children to learn to count up to 10.

How to complete this tutorial step by step?
Materials:
For this activity, you will need:
- A foam board
- Round beads Ø 1 cm
- Black elastic thread Ø 1 mm
- Thick blue and beige paper
- A wooden skewer
- A glue stick
- A wooden pencil
Step 1:
Using a wooden skewer, pierce two holes in a foam board, one at the top and another at the bottom of the median line.
Step 2 :
Pass the elastic thread through a hole and make a double knot.
Step 3:
Thread 10 beads onto the elastic thread while varying the colors.
Step 4:
Then pass the other end of the thread through the second hole and make a double knot to secure everything.

Cut out the two hands from a thick beige sheet of paper.
Step 6:
Fold the fingers of both hands like this.
Step 7:
Then cut out the sleeves from a sheet of thick blue paper.
Step 8:
Glue the hands onto the foam board using a glue stick.
Step 9:
Finally, paste the two colored sleeves.
Then slide a group of beads up or down the thread and the children will need to replicate the number of beads on both hands by bending or straightening their fingers.
