Royal Talens extra-fine gouache is designed for painters, illustrators, graphic artists and art education. It has a high pigment concentration that gives it much stronger colour than school gouache. This makes it unique among water-based paints: it dries in minutes with a smooth, matte, velvety and opaque finish. No shine, no darker patches, no waiting. You get clean, even, saturated colour blocks.
Unlike watercolour, which relies on transparency and the white of the paper, gouache covers fully. You can paint light over dark, correct mistakes, layer colours and work on tinted or coloured paper.

Is dried gouache reversible? Yes, it reactivates with water. This helps to retouch colour blocks but means washes applied over dry layers can lift the paint underneath. Work in dry layers with minimal water.
Difference between extra-fine and school gouache? Pigment load. Extra-fine covers better, gives richer colours and cleaner mixes without greying. Tubes last longer as you need less paint.
