Natural Cotton Reel, Ø 2.5 mm
A soft and flexible natural ecru cotton reel for creating macrame weavings, making dream catchers, or crocheting. This high-quality cotton cord is very easy to handle; its twisted thread can be unraveled to create dense and thick effects in your creations. Make plant hangers, jewelry, or keychains with this thick cotton thread.
To add color to your creations, dye the cotton reel before use. Since this thread is 100% cotton, you can also dye it with plant-based dyes. In a pot of water, add 20 ml of vinegar (10% of the weight of the fabric to be dyed) and the cotton reel, then boil for about 1 hour. Rinse the reel and let it cool. Chop the plants and fill the pot with them (about ¾ full), then add water and boil for 1 hour. Strain the water and let it cool. Place the cotton reel in this dye and heat for another 1 hour, then let the cotton soak. The longer you want a darker color, the longer you should let the cotton soak. Finally, rinse with clear water and let dry. You can use fruits, plants, or herbs; here are a few examples for obtaining green: thyme, spinach - for red: red onion peels - for blue: blueberries, blackcurrants - for yellow: turmeric, parsley, or saffron…
