Kumihimo, or “braiding belts,” is a traditional Japanese art practiced for over 2000 years.
Today, the cords made using this technique are used as decorations and fashion accessories.
Kumihimo is now portable thanks to the Mobidai braiding system. It consists of a small, lightweight, elastic, and sturdy foam disk that allows you to start immediately.
This system has the advantage of being always ready to use, as the threads are held in the notches, preventing your pattern from slipping.
For braiding, you can use all non-elastic threads such as satin cords, alcantara ribbons, raffia, beaded threads, viscose ribbons, and leather. Even fine metallic threads can be integrated.
