Colorants and Fragrances

Here are the steps to follow to scent your soaps:

• First, melt the soap base : cut it into small pieces and melt it in a double boiler or microwave, avoiding overheating.

• Add the scented fragrance : Once your soap base is completely melted, remove it from the heat. Add the scented fragrance while stirring well. The recommended amount is generally around 0.5% to 3% of the total weight of the soap, but this depends on the desired intensity.

Example: For 100 g of soap base, you can add about 2 to 3 ml of fragrance, which is approximately 20 to 30 drops.

• Finally, mix thoroughly : Stir gently but regularly to distribute the scented fragrance evenly throughout the mixture. It is important not to stir too much to avoid creating air bubbles.

• Add colorants : if you wish, this is the time to incorporate colorants

• Pour into molds : Quickly pour the scented mixture into soap molds of your choice before it starts to harden. Allow to cool and harden completely.

• Let dry and unmold : Once the soaps have hardened (this may take a few hours to a day), gently unmold them.

Customize your fragrances:

Fragrances can be blended to create new scents, such as vanilla perfectly pairing with orange blossom notes, while rose can be combined with lavender, for example.
