Cute Keychain Beads - MOM
During this special Mother's Day activity, children will create an adorable keychain using wooden beads, paint, and pretty floral ribbons. A charming and original gift that children can give to their moms!
How to complete this tutorial step by step?
Materials
To make this lovely keychain you will need:
- a wooden bead Ø 3 cm
- a wooden bead Ø 2.5 cm
- 2 wooden hexagonal beads
- acrylic paint and a brush
- a floral fabric ribbon
- a pink waxed cotton cord Ø 1 mm
- a metal ring Ø 3 cm
- wooden alphabet beads
- a colored pompom
- a pair of scissors
Step 1
Tip: to easily paint round wooden beads, you can place them on the handle of an old brush!
Step 2
Paint the character's face on a wooden bead Ø 3 cm.
The bead Ø 2.5 cm will be used to make the character's body.
Also decorate 2 hexagonal wooden beads with acrylic paint.
Step 3
Cut a piece of cotton bias approximately 50 cm long and then tie a knot as shown in the picture next to it (the loop will allow you to attach the character to a ring).
Step 4
Pass the two fabric ribbons through the wooden beads by pushing the ribbons into the holes using a small wooden stick like a skewer (ref. 10453).
Step 5
Tie a knot with the 2 pieces of ribbon to secure the beads.
Step 6
Attach the character to a metal ring.
Step 7
Cut a piece of waxed cotton cord Ø 1 mm approximately 20 cm long and then attach it to the ring as shown in the photo.
Step 8
Thread wooden alphabet beads and colored hexagonal beads onto the cord to personalize the keychain (mom, name...).
Step 9
Add a nice colorful touch by hanging a pom-pom on the keyring.
