In this tutorial, we are going to decorate ceramic mugs. This idea makes an excellent gift for Mother's Day and a super practical item for Father's Day!
Using ceramic markers and stickers, they will be able to customize a mug with two hearts.
This is an activity that even younger kids can easily accomplish, as it only involves making small dots without needing great precision.
How to complete this tutorial step by step?
Materials:
To carry out this activity, you will need:
- a white ceramic mug
- ceramic markers
- two heart-shaped stickers
Step 1:
Before starting the activity, clean and degrease the mug with dish soap and hot water.
Then stick two felt heart stickers onto the mug, like this.
Step 2:
Make dots with a paint marker all around the felt hearts.
Once the first color is dry, make dots with lighter colored permanent markers.
Make sure to highlight the outline of the hearts so that they stand out once the stickers are removed.
Step 3:
Finally, peel off the felt stickers.
Then place the mug in the oven at 160°C (without preheating) for 30 minutes. This will allow the paint to set permanently, provided the mug is hand washed!
