How to complete this tutorial step by step?
Materials
To make a lion you will need:
- a round wooden support Ø 18 cm
- yellow acrylic paint and a brush
- pretty Indian papers (red, yellow, brown tones)
- 2 movable eyes Ø 2.5 cm
- a paper cutter
- a round + heart punch (cut size: 5 cm)
- a screw eye
- ribbon
- a permanent marker
- a glue stick
- a pair of scissors
Step 1
Paint the wooden support with yellow acrylic paint and then let it dry for about 20 minutes.
Step 2
Screw a hook into the edge of the wooden support. This small accessory will allow us to hang the project once it is finished.
Step 3
Cut about 15 strips of Indian paper, 21 x 2 cm wide, using a paper cutter.
Use colors such as yellow, orange, red, and brown for a nice result.
Notes:
- The paper cutter is a very handy tool that children can use safely to cut paper strips quickly and evenly.
- Some sheets of Indian paper are textured and/or metallic. They will allow you to achieve beautiful texture and color effects!
Step 4
Cut the paper strips in half with a pair of scissors.
Step 5
Wrap the paper strips around a pencil. This will add volume to the lion's mane.
This step will also help children develop their motor skills!
Step 6
With a stick of white glue, stick the strips of paper all around the wooden support.
Étape 7
Using a hole punch, cut out 2 circles with a diameter of 5 cm from an orange sheet of paper and glue them onto the wooden base.
Note: place the metal eyelet facing up before gluing on the eyes!
Step 8
Using a hole punch, cut out 3 hearts of 5 cm size from a sheet of brown paper and then glue them onto the wooden support in place of the nose and ears.
Step 9
Glue 2 moving eyes Ø 2.5 cm at the center of the orange circles.
Cut and then glue small strips of brown paper to create the lion's whiskers.
Step 10
Draw the lion's mouth with a black marker.
Step 11
Attach a ribbon to the metal hook so that you can hang your beautiful creation!
