Multicolored Heart String Art

Here is a beautiful creative activity to do with children from the age of 8.

Do you know string art? It is an activity that involves stretching thread between nails planted on a wooden base to create lovely designs. Here we have prepared a beautiful heart model with indicated spots for placing the nails.

Once the children have planted the nails, they can have fun weaving the thread in different colors to highlight the heart.

How to complete this tutorial step by step?

Etape par étape

Materials

For this activity you will need :

- a 20 x 20 cm wooden base

- a pack of 60 nails (included with our wooden base)

- a hammer

- colored skeins

- a printable heart template

- a pair of scissors

Étape 1

Print the heart template here then cut out the square.

Place the template on the wooden support and secure it with some pieces of adhesive tape.

Note: Check that the wall attachment located behind the wooden support is oriented in the correct direction!

Step 2

Drive the nails using a hammer following the model.

Note: the wood of our string art supports is very soft, allowing children to easily drive the nails without needing to hit too hard with the hammer.

Step 3

Don't forget to plant the nails in the periphery !

Step 4

Remove the paper model from the support.

Step 5

Make a double knot with colored thread around the first nail and then “weave” the thread, making sure to pull it tight between the nails on the periphery and the nails forming the core.

Make a knot around a nail before changing color.
