Aquapad Watercolor Block 300 g - Format of your choice
Clairefontaine Goldline Aquapad: the watercolor paper in large quantities! The Goldline Aquapad consists of 50 sheets in A4, 70 in A5, and is true watercolor paper of 300 g/m². You can fail, restart, test a range of colors, and create ten versions of the same subject.
With a weight of 300 g/m², the paper barely warps, even with generous washes, without needing to stretch the sheet. It retains water on the surface long enough to allow blending colors and creating gradual gradients, and supports reworking: layering, re-wetting, sponging, and light scraping.
Medium fine grain is textured enough to hold pigment and add relief to washes, yet regular enough to allow for details, fine lines, and writing. This is the grain to favor for illustration, travel sketchbooks, and watercolor strokes. The paper is acid-free and meets the ISO 9706 permanence standard: it does not yellow or become brittle over the years. A successful watercolor remains presentable and frameable for decades.
Features:
- A5 Format: The training and travel format. A watercolor can be completed in a few minutes: ideal for daily practice, color studies, cards, and the nomadic sketchbook.
- A4 Format: The working format. Illustrations, landscapes, ongoing exercises, works intended to be framed.
- Brand Clairefontaine, Goldline Aquapad range
- Weight 300 g/m²
- Composition 100% cellulose: Absorption is uniform across the entire sheet
- Medium fine grain
FAQ
Do I need to stretch the paper before painting? It is not necessary for regular use. On a large, very wet format, slight warping may occur: you can then tape the sheet to a board.
What is the difference with 100% cotton paper? Cotton absorbs more slowly and allows more time to work with water, but it is significantly more expensive. Pure cellulose offers an excellent quality-price compromise, ideal for daily practice and learning.
What other mediums can be used? Watercolor ink, gouache, watercolor pencils and markers, ink washes, diluted acrylic, as well as pencil and fineliner in mixed techniques.
