A quality brush rarely dies from wear: it dies from paint accumulated in the ferrule. Layer after layer, residues harden at the base of the bristles, spreading the bundle into a fan shape, and the tip no longer returns. This is the problem this kit addresses at its root. It brings together the two references from the American brand General Pencil Company, manufactured in the United States since 1979: the Brush Cleaner and Preserver for brushes, and the Art & Craft Soap for hands.
1. Brush regenerating cleaner (28 g)
No need for turpentine or white spirit: warm water is enough. It cleans oil paint, acrylics, alkyds, watercolors, tints, and varnishes. For a workshop, a classroom, or a poorly ventilated space, the difference is considerable: no more solvent, no more odor, no more soaked rags to manage.
It resurrects old brushes! An abandoned brush, with stiff bristles from dried oil paint, is not lost. Wet it, swirl it in the soap, lather, let it sit for a few minutes, rinse, and repeat until the paint is gone. The brush regains its flexibility and tip.
To clean:
- Wet the brush with warm water
- Swirl it in the soap until it lathers
- Rinse with warm water, and repeat until the lather is clean
- Gently reshape the bristles and let dry (tip down)
2. Art & Craft hand soap (42 g)
Formulated for the artist, it removes paints, inks, dyes, colorants, clays, red clay, greases, and workshop dirt, everything an ordinary soap leaves on fingers.
Its uniqueness: it cleans without drying. A classic degreasing soap irritates the skin when used multiple times a day; this one is designed to condition hands while washing.
Its formula combines a vegetable soap base, moisturizing glycerin, and a finely ground walnut shell powder: present enough to dislodge embedded paint, gentle enough not to irritate the skin. Fragrance: green mint.
Warning: contains walnut shell powder (Juglans Regia). Not recommended for individuals allergic to nuts. Also contains green mint essential oil.
