Hog bristle is the traditional fibre for oil painting and remains so for a reason other fibres cannot match: it leaves its mark.
Where a synthetic brush lays down a smooth, uniform layer, hog bristle records the movement of the arm in the paint. The brush strokes stay visible, the paint gains texture, and the light catches the surface. This gives an oil painting its physical presence. The bristles are stiff and lively, ideal for impasto, palette knife work complemented by brush strokes, and any technique where you want the colour to stay exactly where you put it.

- Cat’s tongue brushes No. 10 and 14: the most adaptable shape. Flat, they cover; on edge, they draw fine lines; their rounded tip blends strokes without sharp edges. Perfect for modelling, shaping volumes and foliage.
