Pitt Pastel Pencils, Sanguine & Sepia - 3 pieces
This set includes the three warm tones most used in academic drawing: sanguine, light sepia and dark sepia. These three shades cover everything needed to draw a face: sanguine for skin tones and mid-shades, light sepia for transitions, dark sepia for shadows, hair and accents. The balance of these pencils is their strength: the lead is soft enough to blend and cover generously, yet firm enough to sharpen to a fine point for precise details like eyelashes, the corner of a lip or a strand of hair. You can move from broad shading to fine detail without changing tools.
Wax- and oil-free lead! Unlike regular coloured pencils, Pitt Pastel leads contain no wax or oil. This means a very high pigment concentration, a matte, velvety finish and perfect blending with fingers, brushes, cloth or blending stumps.
Product Details:
- Three complementary warm tones: sanguine, light sepia, dark sepia
- Blends easily with fingers, blending stumps, brushes or cloth
- Compatible with pastel chalks, charcoal, graphite and coloured papers
- Faber-Castell quality: lightfast pigments, strong well-centred leads, sustainably sourced wood
Which paper to use?
Medium textured paper holds the pigment best. Coloured papers (beige, grey, kraft) highlight sanguine and sepia particularly well.
Are they erasable?
Partially. You can lighten marks with a kneaded eraser or eraser pen, but the pigment stains the paper. Work lightly during initial stages.
