The Neocolor™ II Watercolor by Caran d'Ache are artist-quality water-soluble wax pastels. They combine the generous texture of an oil pastel with the ability to dilute pigments with water. The Neocolor™ II water-soluble pastels offer a soft and velvety texture, particularly pleasant to apply. Their bright and highly pigmented colors have excellent coverage and dissolve easily with water to create beautiful watercolor effects. Their excellent lightfastness ensures the lasting brilliance of creations. Practical and clean to use, these pastels produce no dust.
How to use them?
They can be used in several ways:
- Dry, for drawing, coloring, creating flat areas, and layering colors.
- With a wet brush, to transform strokes into watercolor washes.
- On wet paper, to achieve diffuse colors and spontaneous blends.
- By layering and scratching, to create texture effects or sgraffito.
- With stencils, to create patterns and colored backgrounds.
- In mixed techniques, with pencils, gouache, or other mediums.

Did you know? The paper that surrounds the Neocolor™ II pastels protects the material, limits contact of the pigments with fingers, and helps keep hands cleaner. As the pastel wears down, simply remove a small part of the paper to expose more material.
