Flower Tam-Tam

To make a Tam-Tam flower, you will need:

- a flower-shaped cardboard box (Ø 12 cm)

- a wooden stick (length: 15.5 cm - width: 1.8 cm)

- multi-surface acrylic paint

- acrylic paint markers

- approximately 70 cm of waxed cotton cord (Ø 2 mm)

- 2 "Shine" PVC beads (Ø 1.4 cm)

- a cutter

- a pair of scissors

- a glue gun

- glue sticks

Paint the two parts of the cardboard box as well as the wooden stick with a multi-surface acrylic paint.

To give the Tam-Tam a festive look, we chose to paint the three elements in three different colors.

Let the paint dry for about 10 minutes.

Using a cutter, make a cut about 2 cm deep on one side of the cardboard box, halfway up the side.

Insert the wooden stick into the slot.

The part of the stick that is inside the box should measure approximately 4 to 5 cm.

Generously apply glue to the slot, on the inside, to secure the wooden stick.

For this step, we recommend using a glue gun as the bond sets almost instantly.

Using the lead of a pencil, drill 2 holes of approximately 3 mm on each side of the box, at mid-height.

The alignment of the 2 holes must be perpendicular to the wooden stick.

Cut approximately 70 cm of waxed cotton cord Ø 2 mm and then thread it through the 2 holes.

Center the cord and tie a knot on each side of the box as shown in the picture next to it.

This way, the cord will not move when children play with the Tam-Tam flower.

Thread a "Shine" bead onto the cord.

Hold the cord above the box as shown in the picture alongside, then tie a knot so that the bead is centered in the box when it is glued to the knot.

Do the same with the other part of the cord.

Tip : to thread the bead more easily, twist the cord and the bead in the opposite direction while pushing the cord through the bead.

Cut the excess cord with a pair of scissors.

Generously apply glue paste around the inner rim of the lid, then close the box.

The final setting time for the glue can take several hours, so we recommend not touching the lid once it is closed.

To complete the decoration of your Tam-Tam flower, use acrylic paint markers.

To use the Tam-Tam flower, simply hold it in one hand and move your wrist from side to side so that the beads strike the center of the box.
