Make a Halloween Mask

In this Halloween activity, children will enjoy transforming a simple white mask into a terrifying (but not too much) and colorful mask for trick-or-treating on October 31! This is a simple and fun activity that requires very little material (a white mask, some paint, pipe cleaners, and adhesive foam).

Children will be proud to have created an original and unique mask for Halloween!

Materials

To create a monstrous Halloween mask, you will need:

- a white plastic mask

- acrylic paint and a brush

- chenilles (Ø 6 mm x 30 cm)

- colored rubber adhesive sheets

- 2.5 cm wiggle eyes

- adhesive glue dots

- a pair of scissors

- a compass

Step 1

Step reserved for adults.

To prepare the activity for the children, it will be necessary to first make small holes (between 10 and 20) spaced 1 to 2 cm apart at the top of the mask using the tip of a compass.

These small holes will allow the children to decorate the mask with colored caterpillars.

Step 2

Paint the mask with acrylic paint and then let it dry for about an hour.

Step 3

Fold the pipe cleaners in half and insert them into the holes from inside the mask.

Bend and twist the pipe cleaners to give them volume.

Step 4

Cut out geometric shapes from adhesive rubber sheets to decorate the mask.

It doesn't matter what shapes and colors are used; the result will remain original and unique!

Step 5

Remove the paper backing from the cut-out shapes and stick them onto the mask to decorate it.

Feel free to layer the rubber shapes to create volume and beautiful color contrasts!

Step 6

Cut circles Ø 3 to 4 cm from a sheet of soft rubber and then glue the googly eyes onto these with adhesive gel dots.

Step 7

Glue the eyes onto the front of the mask.

Step 8

Here is a beautiful homemade Halloween mask, original and full of colors! All that remains is to attach the elastic thread supplied with the mask so that it can be worn.

Simply vary the background color and the cut shapes to create a unique mask. Children will particularly love having masks that are nowhere else to be found!
