For Halloween, we will create funny monsters that glow in the dark. Children will love transforming plastic eggs, usually used for Easter, into pumpkins, ghosts, and other funny monsters.
An easy and original activity that will allow children to discover decoupage with tissue paper !
How to complete this tutorial step by step?
Materials
To make these candle holders you need:
- transparent plastic eggs to stand
- colored tissue paper
- a pair of scissors
- glue varnish
- a glue brush
- 2 movable eyes Ø 2.5 cm
- adhesive glue dots
- black cardboard (300 g/m²)
- LED candles
Step 1
Cut out about 40 small squares of tissue paper measuring 3 cm x 3 cm in the color of your choice (orange for a pumpkin, green for a monster, white for a ghost, ...).
Step 2
Use glue to apply the squares of tissue paper over the entire surface of the egg with a brush. To do this, apply the glue on the plastic egg, stick the squares of tissue paper, and then apply another layer of glue on top.
Once the surface of the egg is fully covered, let the glue dry for about 30 to 45 minutes.
Step 3
Cut out the shapes for the nose, mouth, and tail of the pumpkin from the black cardstock.
Step 4
Glue the paper elements as well as 2 movable eyes Ø 2.5 cm using the adhesive gel dots to create volume.
Step 5
Turn on a LED candle and then place it inside the egg.
Step 6
Let your imagination run wild to create many different little monsters.
Step 7
Once night falls, the little monsters will glow in the dark thanks to LED candles!
