A hands-on activity for Halloween that involves transforming small kraft paper bags into fun monsters with big bulging eyes. In addition to having fun making the monsters, children can also use the bags on Halloween night to collect treats!
An easy, cost-effective, and fun Halloween craft!
How to complete this tutorial step by step?
Materials
To make a monster bag you will need:
- a colored paper bag
- polystyrene half-balls (matching diameters)
- adhesive soft rubber sheets
- caterpillars
- pom-poms
- a black paint marker
- a pair of scissors
Step 1
Choose 2 half balls made of polystyrene to create the monster's eyes, then draw the pupils of the eyes with a black paint marker.
Note: you can also choose to give your monster just one giant eye, or 3 small eyes for an even funnier look (our pack contains half balls made of polystyrene of Ø 4 - 6 and 10 cm).
Step 2
Stick the eyes on a colorful paper bag using double-sided tape.
Step 3
Cut small pieces of pipe cleaners, 2 to 4 cm long, and plant them into the Styrofoam half-balls to give the monster a fun look!
Step 4
Cut out the monster's mouth from a colored adhesive rubber sheet and stick it at the bottom of the bag.
Step 5
Stick a colored pom-pom with double-sided adhesive to create the monster's nose.
Step 6
Using the tip of a pencil, pierce 2 small holes on one side of the paper bag.
Step 7
To create the monster's arms, thread a 30 cm chenille through the first hole and pull it out through the second hole. All that’s left to do is twist the chenilles to finish the monster's arms.
Step 8
Reproduce step 7 on the opposite side to complete the arms of your funny monster!
