Climbing Spider

To make a climbing spider, you need: 

- a strong black card

- 4 colored caterpillars 30 cm

- holographic stickers

- adhesive rhinestones

- 2 mobile eyes Ø 18 mm

- a cardboard straw

- black polyester cord 

- a hole punch 

- a glue gun 

- a pair of scissors 

- a pencil

To start, cut out two circles from a sheet of thick black paper.

Here we used a mug and a coffee cup to draw the two circles: one small for the head and one larger for the body.

To assemble the body and head of the spider, glue the small circle to the edge of the large circle with a glue gun.

Cut 2 small pieces of cardboard straw about 5 cm long, and then glue them on the back of the spider's body.

Tip: glue a bit of bias so that the spider slides more easily!

Using the hole punch, make 4 holes on each side of the largest circle. 

This will allow children to insert the chenilles more easily !

Insert 4 colored caterpillars starting from the front of the spider and passing them behind the pieces of cardboard straws. 

Fold the colored chenilles to form the spider's legs. 

Glue 2 moving eyes Ø 18 mm.

Decorate the body of the spider with holographic stickers and adhesive gems.

Cut approximately 2.5m of black polyester cord with a pair of scissors.

Insert the cord into the 2 pieces of straws to create a loop above the spider's head. 

Make a knot with the loop. 

This will allow you to hang the spider more easily (on a wall, a coat rack...). 

Once the spider is hung, you just need to spread the threads to make it climb !
