Multicolored Octopus with a Cup
Introduce your children to decoupage glue by creating this little multicolored octopus!
In this summer activity, children will learn how to make a lovely octopus using paper cups, tissue paper, decoupage glue, and ribbon spools.
This easy craft on the ocean theme is sure to be a hit!
How to complete this tutorial step by step?
Materials:
To make an octopus you need:
- A cardboard cup
- Tissue paper circles
- Pastel curling ribbon spools
- Metal fasteners
- Two googly eyes (Ø 2.5 cm)
- Glue
- A glue brush
- A black cardstock (300 g/m²)
- Glue dots
- Double-sided tape
- A pair of scissors
Step 1:
Use glue varnish to attach the tissue paper circles to the entire surface of the cup with a brush. To do this, apply the glue varnish on the cup, stick the tissue paper circles, and then apply another layer of varnish on top.
Step 2:
Once the surface of the cup is fully covered, let the varnish dry for about 30 minutes.
Step 3:
Cut out about 18 strips of ribbon approximately 40 cm long, varying the colors.
Step 4:
Apply double-sided tape inside the cup to stick the cut ribbons.
To curl the ribbon even more, you can slide it between a pair of scissors and your thumb!
Step 5:
Using adhesive dots, stick two movable eyes Ø 2.5 cm.
Step 6:
Cut a mouth shape from black cardstock and stick it on the cup with adhesive dots.
Step 7:
Attach a metal clasp to the top of the cup and attach a piece of ribbon so that you can hang the octopus.
