Owls with Paper Bags
For this autumn craft, we will use kraft paper bags along with nice patterned papers to create super cute owls!
An easy creative activity based on cutting and pasting that is perfect for children from the age of 5.
How to complete this tutorial step by step?
Materials
To make an owl, you will need:
- a kraft paper bag (12 x 15 cm)
- 2 polystyrene half-balls (Ø 4 and 6 cm)
- patterned strong cards
- an orange strong card
- natural feathers
- a black and white paint marker
- a glue brush bottle
- a pair of scissors
- a ruler and a pencil
Step 1
Peel (or cut) the handles off the kraft paper bag.
Step 2
Cut out 2 shapes from a pretty patterned card:
- a triangle (base: 12 cm - height: 3 cm)
- an arc shape (base: 12 cm - height: 5 cm)
Then glue the triangle to the top of the bag and the rounded shape to the base of the bag.
Step 3
To create the owl's eyes, we will use a half-sphere made of polystyrene Ø 6 cm and another Ø 4 cm.
Draw the pupils on the half-spheres with a black paint marker. Once the black paint is dry, add a small white dot.
Step 4
Glue the eyes onto the bag using the glue stick.
Step 5
Cut out the beak and the ears of the owl from a strong orange card and glue them with hot glue.
Step 6
Apply a generous layer of glue on the side of the bag and then stick some feathers to create the owl's wing.
Step 7
Repeat the operation on the other side of the bag to create the second wing of the owl.
