Halloween Bat
During this activity, we will make fun bats using paper and half foam balls.
Hanging them with clear thread, these bats will help you create unique decorations for Halloween.
How to complete this tutorial step by step?
Materials
To make these bats you will need:
- black paper sheets (A4, 130 g/m²)
- half polystyrene balls
- black acrylic paint and a brush
- wooden skewers
- funny eyes to stick
- black pom-poms
- a pair of scissors
- a precision cutter
- a stapler
To hang your creations, prepare some push pins and transparent thread.
Step 1
Paint a half-sphere made of polystyrene Ø 6 cm with black acrylic paint and let it dry for about 30 minutes.
TIP: Stick the half-sphere on a wooden skewer to paint without getting your fingers dirty!
Step 2
Fold a black sheet of paper in accordion style.
TIP: use 130 g/m² paper for easy folding!
Step 3
Close the "accordion" and then staple in the center to maintain the shape.
Step 4
Once the paint is dry, stick funny eyes into the half-sphere.
Step 5
Cut out 2 small black triangles to create the ears of the bat.
Step 6
Make 2 small notches in the polystyrene so that you can slide the ears in.
Note: it is also possible to glue the ears behind the half-ball.
Step 7
Cut 2 pieces of chenille of 6 cm and two others of 3 cm.
Step 8
Wrap the small pipe cleaners at the end of the large pipe cleaners to create the legs of the bat.
Step 9
Plant the legs at the back of the half-sphere.
Step 10
Glue the body and wings using a glue gun.
Step 11
To hang the bat, plant a metal hook at the back and attach a clear string.
