A fun Easter activity to teach children how to make a pom-pom chick with yarn. To enhance the irresistible aspect of these soft chicks, we will also create a pretty shell for them!
How to complete this tutorial step by step?
Materials
To make a pom-pom chick, you will need:
- a ball of colored yarn (approximately 25 meters)
- a tool to make pom-poms
- a pair of scissors
- 2 googly eyes Ø 2.5 cm
- an orange stiff card
- 2 colored feathers
- a paper mâché egg basket
- white acrylic paint
- a paintbrush
Step 1
Wrap colored wool around the 7 cm diamond pom-pom maker tool.
Step 2
Close the 2 parts of the pompom tool and then cut the yarn by passing the blade of the scissors through the cavity.
Step 3
Cut a length of wool thread about 20 cm long, then pass it through the cavity of the tool. Next, make a double knot, tightening well to allow the pompom to keep its round shape.
Step 4
Once the knot is made, separate the pom-pom from the ouil.
Step 5
Trim the pom-pom with a pair of scissors to give it a nice round shape.
Step 6
Paint the paper mache egg basket with white acrylic paint.
If needed, cut the cord of the basket.
Step 7
Place the pompom in the basket (the chick in its shell).
Step 8
Glue 2 movable eyes Ø 2.5 cm with strong white glue.
Step 9
Cut the chick's beak from an orange heavy cardstock and then glue it with strong white glue.
Step 10
Cut the base of the feathers and slide them into the basket to create the chick's wings.
