Discover an easy craft that allows children to transform a simple pencil holder into a squirrel using paint and paper! An ideal craft for autumn, to be done in class or at home!
How to complete this tutorial step by step?
Materials
To make a squirrel pencil pot you will need:
- a white cardboard pencil pot
- brown and flesh-colored acrylic paint
- a paintbrush
- a white and a black paint marker
- a brown sheet (A4 size)
- 2 mobile eyes Ø 2.5 cm
- 1 colored pompon
- a glue stick
- a pair of scissors
Step 1
Paint the cardboard pencil holder with brown acrylic paint and let it dry for about 10 minutes.
Step 2
Paint the belly of the squirrel and the outline of the face with flesh-colored acrylic paint.
Step 3
Using a glue stick, attach the 2 moving eyes as well as a pom-pom to create the squirrel's nose.
Step 4
Using paint markers, draw the mouth and teeth of the squirrel.
Step 5
From a brown A4 sheet, cut 2 strips in width: the first one is 1 cm wide and the second is about 4 cm wide.
Step 6
Stick the 1 cm wide brown strip around the pencil holder to create the squirrel's arms.
Step 7
Wrap the second strip of paper around a pencil to shape the squirrel's tail.
Step 8
Glue the squirrel's tail behind the pencil holder.
Step 9
Cut out the ears of the squirrel from the brown paper and then paint the inside of the ears with flesh-colored paint.
Step 9
Glue the 2 ears to the inside of the pencil pot and then glue 2 small paper legs underneath the pot to complete your creation.
