These dense and fine foam plates are designed for styro-engraving. They allow children to draw a relief design simply using the tip of a pencil or a ballpoint pen. Once the pattern is in relief, it is easy to apply linocut ink or poster paint with a roller and press the plate onto paper to achieve a print. An ideal economical support for a first approach to linocut with children!
Tip: For a successful print, use a foam roller to apply the ink evenly on the Styrofoam plate. It is advisable not to overload the plate with ink, as this can create smudges during printing. Making a few trials on scrap paper before moving on to final paper can also help adjust the amount of ink and verify the rendering of the pattern.
