• The winter characters, snowmen, reindeer, Santa Clauses, bring the figurative side of decoration. They hold up well to detailed decorations and are particularly suited for children's creations.
• Finally, the snowflakes and openwork ornaments, with their fine cutouts, create a great effect once hung on the tree or in front of a window.

Painting and Decorating Wood for Christmas

Three decorative approaches are commonly used, and they can easily be combined in the same set.

• Raw wood, possibly varnished, emphasizes the material. A simple piece of raffia or a string is enough to finish the piece. This is the quickest and most trendy option.
• Traditional colors, red, green, white, remain the most visible from a distance and work well on large shapes.
• Metallic finishes, gold, silver, copper, catch the light from candles and garlands. Applied in touches on a raw background rather than flat, they give a more subtle result.
• For openwork shapes, it is better to paint before assembly or attaching the hanging string: the cutouts are difficult to reach once the piece is assembled.

Setting Up a Table and Festive Decoration

Table decoration is an opportunity to apply the same palette across several elements. Place cards, napkin rings, small ornaments, and centerpieces benefit from sharing a common treatment rather than being decorated separately. The wooden logs naturally complement these creations: a slice under each plate or under a candle holder unifies the whole and adds relief.
