Balloon Painting and Stickers: The Ice Floe
By combining an original painting technique with the application of stickers, children will recreate an adorable artwork representing the ice floe and its inhabitants. A sensory activity that is as fun as it is easy to do from the age of 3 to celebrate the magic of winter!
The workshop begins with a very funny step: small inflated balloons are used as stamps to apply white paint. This method creates wonderful textures resembling ice and snow. Once the background is dry, children bring their artwork to life by sticking on lots of lovely stickers!
Why do we love this activity?
- A surprising painting technique: painting with a balloon offers a captivating tactile experience.
- The rounded imprints of the balloon naturally create relief and shades, perfect for representing the ice floe.
- Development of motor skills: manipulating the balloon for stamping and peeling off stickers allows for playful eye-hand coordination practice.

Materials
To create a beautiful picture, you will need:
- a royal blue cardstock (A4)
- a black and white cardstock frame
- a small balloon to inflate
- white paint
- a tray
- letter stickers
- iceberg stickers
- a glue stick
Step 1
Prepare the activity by pouring white paint into a small tray and inflating a small balloon.
Note: The small size and durability of the small balloons used for this activity will provide better handling for children!
Step 2
Grab the balloon and then dip it in the paint.
Step 3
Place the blue sheet lengthwise (landscape format) and stamp the balloon on the bottom part to create the ice floe.
Step 4
Continue stamping over the entire lower part of the sheet to create a lovely white ice floe.
Let the paint dry for 30 to 45 minutes.
Step 5
A worthy board deserves a beautiful frame!
Glue a sturdy card frame above the blue sheet using a glue stick.
Step 6
Sign the board with the child's name using colored stickers.
Step 7
Use our stickers to decorate the iceberg and the ocean with the iconic animals of the Arctic.
Each child can create their own composition for a unique result!
