Bee with a Paper Plate
Here is an easy craft activity to do with children for spring!
This craft, based on cutting and gluing, will allow children to create a bee from a simple paper plate!
How to complete this tutorial step by step?
Materials:
To make a bee, you need:
- 1 paper plate
- 20 pearly cabochons
- 1 fabric bow tie
- 2 black pipe cleaners
- 2 round pink stickers
- Yellow paint and a brush
- 2 thick sheets of paper (black and white)
- 1 sheet of tracing paper
- 2 paint markers (black and white)
- Strong white glue and glue sticks
- 1 pair of scissors
Optional materials:
- 2 round hole punches (Ø 2.5 and 5 cm)
- 1 paper cutter
Step 1 :
To start, paint a plate with yellow acrylic paint.
Let it dry for 20 minutes.
Step 2:
Cut out a triangle and two strips of 3 x 29.7 cm from a sheet of thick black paper.
Tip: the paper cutter is a very handy tool that children can safely use to cut the strips neatly.
Step 3:
Glue the two strips and the paper triangle as shown in the picture.
Cut off the excess paper.
Step 4:
Cut out 2 circles of 5 cm in diameter from a white sheet, then cut out 2 circles of 2.5 cm in diameter from a black sheet of paper.
Tip : with the punchers, children will be able to cut the circles neatly.
Step 5:
Glue the two white circles onto the plate, then the two black circles inside the whites.
Tip: With a white paint marker, make a dot in each black circle to create a reflection effect.
Step 6:
Draw a mouth with the black paint marker and then stick 2 round pink stickers at its ends.
Step 7:
Cut out the 2 wings of the bee from a sheet of tracing paper.
Step 8:
Glue the wings to the back of the cardboard plate.
Step 9:
To create the bee's antennas, cut 2 pieces of black chenille, twist the ends, and then glue them with white glue to the back of the plate.
Let the glue dry for 10 minutes.
Step 10:
Glue a fabric bow and pearlescent cabochons all around the plate.
