Who better than the ladybug to represent the return of sunny days?
We will dedicate this easy activity to this little insect that children love.
With a paper plate, a polystyrene disk, paint, and stickers, we will create this lovely ladybug that children can use to decorate their room or any other area in the house.
Suitable from the age of 3, this fun creative activity will delight your budding artists.
How to complete this tutorial step by step?
Materials
To create a lovely ladybug you will need:
- a small white cardboard plate
- a polystyrene disc Ø 8 cm
- acrylic paint (black and red)
- a paintbrush
- a black chenille stem
- 2 wiggle eyes Ø 2.5 cm
- round stickers
- metallic markers
- adhesive dots
- a sturdy cardboard base
- a pair of scissors
- a skewer
Step 1
Turn the cardboard plate over and then paint it with red acrylic paint.
Paint the polystyrene disc and then allow everything to dry for about an hour.
Tip: Insert the polystyrene disc onto a wooden stick so you can paint it without getting your fingers dirty!
Step 2
Cut one side of the plate to about 2.5 cm in height.
Step 3
Glue the polystyrene disc flush with the flat part of the plate using some adhesive dots.
Step 4
Create the ladybug's head by decorating the disc with 2 large googly eyes and drawing a mouth and small cheeks.
Tip: We used metallic markers because they allow you to draw on a black surface!
Step 5
Decorate the plate with round black stickers to recreate the spots on the back of the ladybug.
Step 6
Cut a chenille in half and roll the ends of the two pieces to create the antennae of the ladybug.
Insert the two antennae into the polystyrene disc.
Step 7
Practical: to display the children's ladybugs vertically, you can use our cardboard supports to attach to the back of the creations!
