Create a colorful and fun necklace with this hands-on activity using crazy plastic (also known as magic plastic)! With a few markers, beads, string, and a bit of oven magic (under adult supervision), children can make a custom pendant in the shape of an animal or a design of their choice.
This creative tutorial is perfect for a home activity, a birthday workshop, or a fun moment during the holidays. Besides being entertaining, it allows children to develop their creativity and fine motor skills while making a lovely piece of jewelry to wear or gift.

How to complete this tutorial step by step?
Step 1: Prepare Your Drawing
Ask an adult to help you cut a sheet of magic plastic into 4 pieces.
Choose an animal (or another pattern you like) and draw it with a fine black marker on one of the pieces.
Then, cut out your drawing with a pair of scissors.
Step 2: Color and Punch
Color your drawing with colored markers.
Then, make a small hole at the top of your drawing with a hole punch. This hole will be used to thread the necklace cord.
Step 3: The Magic of the Oven (with an adult!)
Ask an adult to preheat the oven to 160°C.
When the oven is hot, place your drawing on a baking tray (using parchment paper is even better) and put it in the oven with the help of the adult.
You will see: your drawing will twist all over the place… then it will shrink and become hard.
When it stops moving, the adult will take it out of the oven. Let it cool down for a few minutes.
Step 4: Make Your Necklace
Cut approximately 60 cm of cord.
Attach a crimp bead to each end (an adult can help you with pliers).
With a small metal ring, attach your lovely pendant to the cord.
Step 5: Add Beads
Slide some colored beads onto the string to decorate your necklace as you like.
