Light up the darkness with this monstrously cute Halloween lantern! This easy and quick Halloween decoration activity allows children to transform a simple clear plastic jar into a little glowing monster.
Using masking tape and some funny stickers, they create a unique character that will cast a mysterious glow once night falls.
How to complete this tutorial step by step?
Materials
To make a Halloween lantern, you will need:
- a wooden bracelet
- a round wooden base (Ø 8.5 cm)
- black paint and a brush
- a plastic jar
- masking tape
- 2 3D monster eyes
- bat stickers
- an LED candle
- strong white glue
Step 1
Paint the wooden bracelet and the round base with black acrylic paint.
Let it dry for about 30 minutes.
Step 2
Glue the bracelet onto the round wooden base to create the lantern's base.
Step 3
Decorate the jar with masking tape.
This will create a whitish effect that allows for better light diffusion.
Step 4
Glue 2 monster eyes and 2 bats.
Tip: Add a dot of white glue under each element for a stronger hold.
Step 5
Draw a mouth with the brush and black paint.
Step 6
Place an LED candle in the center of the base.
Step 7
Place the jar on the base, above the candle.
Step 8
Turn on the LED candle and admire the result in the dark.
