Make your own colorful candles with this very simple tutorial. Discover how to color your wax and create candles with multicolored layers.
This activity requires no special skills, just patience. The longest part will be waiting for the wax to melt to create the colored layers.
Tip: Never use flammable containers to make your candles. Pour into a container at room temperature.

How to complete this tutorial step by step?
Step 1
To melt the wax:
1- Fill a saucepan with water and heat it so that the water is hot but do not let it boil.
2- Place the double boiler pot over the water (make sure the handle is aligned with the handle of your saucepan to protect it from the heat).
3- Put the wax in the double boiler pot and wait for the wax to completely melt. Depending on the amount of wax to melt, the time can vary from 15 to 30 minutes for the wax to be completely melted.
Step 2
Coloring the wax: Using the pipette, add 8 drops of dye to the wax. If you want pastel colors, reduce to 2 drops.
Step 3
Fix the wick: Place your wick at the bottom of the pot, it can be secured with a glue dot or with a glue gun.
Step 4
Pour the wax to fill the votive holder to one third of its capacity.
Position the votive holder on an inclined surface (you can use a cloth to easily stabilize it) and let the wax cool completely.
Tip: To keep the wick upright, you can position it in a clothespin placed on top of the glass.
Step 5
Repeat steps 1 to 4 with 2 other colors to create the different layers.
