Using simple polystyrene balls and a variety of fun accessories to plant or stick on, children will create a true winter scene. Moving eyes, top hats, carrot noses, and twig arms... everything is there to bring a cheerful snowman family to life!
The balls are assembled with wooden skewers to form a large and a small snowman, accessories are chosen, and then they are placed on their snowy base. The children decorate the base with shiny gems for a Christmas effect. A wonderful 3D decoration, perfect for a DIY Christmas centerpiece !
How to complete this tutorial step by step?
Materials:
To make these snowmen, you will need:
- polystyrene balls of Ø 3.5 and 7 cm
- a half polystyrene ball Ø 9.5 cm
- snowman accessories to insert
- decorative Christmas rhinestones
- self-adhesive wiggle eyes
- a wooden skewer
- a pair of scissors
Step 1:
To start, cut a skewer into two pieces to obtain: a 16 cm rod and a 9 cm rod.
Step 2:
Assemble the two snowmen by threading the balls onto the stems:
On the small stem, 1 ball Ø 3 cm + 1 ball Ø 5 cm
On the large stem, 1 ball Ø 5 cm + 1 ball Ø 7 cm
Step 3:
Decorate the 2 snowmen by inserting the carrot noses, branch arms, and black buttons.
Step 4:
Next, stick adhesive googly eyes on each of the snowmen's heads.
Step 5:
Insert the two snowmen into the half styrofoam ball to create the scene.
Step 6:
Carefully place the hats on the sticks that protrude from the heads.
Step 7:
Finally, glue the Christmas-colored rhinestones all around the half-ball for a nice festive effect.
