How to choose the right weight for your project: 

To determine which paper is suitable for your project, it is important to understand what paper density is: the thicker a sheet, the heavier it is. A very thin sheet, like printer paper, typically weighs 80 g, while tracing paper is 40 g. From 150 grams, the paper becomes slightly stiffer and reaches true rigidity at 400 g. The thicker the paper, the sturdier it is, which is why we use high-weight paper for wet techniques (gouache, watercolor) to minimize warping. We reserve lighter papers (up to 200 g) for dry techniques, such as drawing. Children who enjoy drawing with colored pencils or pastels can create their artwork on papers ranging from 80 g to 190 g; these papers are also suitable for markers, but the ink may bleed through to the back. This is why we prefer papers of 190 g to 220 g for markers. From 240/250 g, children will be able to paint on the paper with gouache, for example.
