What is the weight of paper?
It refers to the weight of the paper; the thicker the sheet, the heavier it is. A very thin sheet, like printer paper, weighs about 80 g, while tracing paper weighs 40 g. Starting from 150 g, the paper becomes slightly stiffer, achieving true rigidity at 400 g.
Thick paper is better suited for wet techniques (gouache, watercolor) to minimize warping, while lightweight paper is more appropriate for dry techniques, such as graphite pencils, colored pencils, markers, charcoal…
