With a styrofoam egg, caterpillars, paint, and a few accessories, children will learn how to create a lovely 3D bee!
This easy creative activity will be perfect for a workshop themed around spring or summer!

How to complete this tutorial step by step?
Materials
To make a 3D bee you will need:
- a polystyrene egg in 2 parts (15 cm)
- acrylic paint (yellow, green)
- a brush
- black caterpillars
- moving eyes Ø 2.5 cm
- a sheet of strong white cardboard
- rubber flowers
- a pair of scissors
- gel adhesive dots
- a cutter
- a black marker
Step 1
Paint the 2 parts of the styrofoam egg with yellow paint (the bee's body) and green paint (the base).
Let it dry for about 30 minutes.
Step 2
Stick 2 movable eyes Ø 2.5 cm with adhesive dots.
Step 3
Draw a smile with a black marker.
Step 4
Create the black stripes using caterpillars that will be placed under the half-egg (see step 5).
Tip: Adjust each caterpillar with a pair of scissors before planting the second end.
Step 5

Step 6
Create the bee's antennas with 2 small pieces of chenille and then insert them into the egg.
Step 7
Cut 6 pieces of chenille, 5 cm long, to create the legs of the bee.
Step 8
Plant 3 small caterpillars on each side of the bee.
Step 9
Cut out 2 wings of about 10 cm from a strong white card.
Step 10
Step reserved for adults: make 2 cuts in the polystyrene using a cutter to insert the wings.
Step 11
Insert the 2 paper wings into the notches.
Step 12
Decorate the green base with colorful rubber flowers.
Step 13
Insert a wooden stick under the egg (being careful not to go all the way through).
Step 14
Adjust the length of the wooden stick and then insert it into the floral base to make the bee float in the air.
