Today, we are going to explore how to create a crab on an island using simple materials: a toilet paper roll and clothespins.
This easy summer-themed craft activity guarantees a good time while developing children's artistic skills. So, grab your scissors, take out your paintbrushes, and let’s embark together on this fun craft to bring a unique crab to life!
How to complete this tutorial step by step?
Materials:
To make a crab, you will need:
- a cardboard roll
- a half foam ball (9.5 cm)
- 2 clothespins (7 cm)
- 4 red chenille stems
- funny eyes to stick on
- seashells
- red, yellow, and blue paint + a paintbrush
- a glue gun
- a black marker
- a pair of scissors
Step 1:
To begin, paint a cardboard roll and 2 clothespins with red acrylic paint.
Step 2:
Next, paint a half sphere made of polystyrene: one half blue representing the sea and one half yellow representing the sand.
Allow to dry for about 30 minutes.
Step 3:
Using a glue gun, attach the 2 clothespins to the cardboard roll to form the crab's legs.
Step 4:
Using a pair of scissors, make a hole in the roll to insert the funny eyes, then draw a mouth with a black marker.
Step 5:
Glue the crab to the top of the half-sphere using the glue gun
Step 6:
Cut 4 red pipe cleaners into 20 cm pieces, then insert them into the cardboard tube.
Then, stick the end of the pipe cleaners into the yellow part of the polystyrene representing the sand of the island.
Step 7:
Finally, use a glue gun to stick small shells onto the yellow part of the half-sphere.
