Butterfly Magnet with a Clothespin

To make a butterfly magnet you will need:

- a sturdy white A4 sheet (300 g/m²)

- rolls of masking tape (patterns and matching colors)

- a 7 cm wooden clothespin

- 2 googly eyes Ø 8 mm

- a black marker

- a pair of scissors

- a tube of strong white glue

- a self-adhesive magnet

We'll start by making the butterfly wing template.

To do this, fold a piece of paper in half and draw a butterfly wing starting from the fold line.

While keeping the paper folded in half, cut along the outline of your wing.

Unfold the template to reveal the shape of the butterfly.

Stick strips of masking tape one on top of the other across the width of a sturdy white A4 card (300 g/m²).

The total height of the strips should be slightly greater than the height of your butterfly wing template.

Vary the patterns and colors to create beautiful butterfly wings.

Place your template on the back of the sturdy card where the masking tape strips have been applied, then outline the shape of the wings with a pencil.

With a pair of scissors, cut out the wings following the outlined shape.

The butterfly wings are now complete!

Using strong white glue, attach a clothespin in the center of the wings to create the body of the butterfly.

Then, glue 2 moveable eyes Ø 8 mm about 1 cm from the top of the clothespin (do not place them too close to the edge as we will need this free space to squeeze the clothespin to open it).

With a black permanent marker, draw a smile beneath the butterfly's eyes.

Stick a self-adhesive magnet to the back of the butterfly to complete your magnet.

Place the butterflies on the refrigerator (or any other metallic surface) and then hang your memos and notes using the clothespin!
