Giant Tissue Paper Animals

To make a giant animal you will need:

- 6 sheets of colored tissue paper

- One sheet of thick white paper 

- One sheet of thick black paper
- Thick colored paper sheets

- Satin cord

- A circular cutter

- A cutting mat

- Double-sided tape

- A hole punch Ø 2.5 cm

- A pair of scissors

Layer 6 sheets of tissue paper in the color of your choice.

Fold the sheets in half.

Cut the tissue paper along the fold to obtain 12 sheets.

Fold the sheets in an accordion pattern.

Round the two ends with a pair of scissors.

Make a double knot at the center of the accordion using a piece of cord.

Tip: To be able to hang the animals, leave a long length of cord.

Unfold the accordion to form a circle.

Unfold all the tissue paper sheets one by one.

By unfolding as many sheets upwards as downwards, you will get a ball like in the photo.

Using a circular cutter, cut out three circles from a thick sheet of paper:

- Two circles with a diameter of 5 cm from thick white paper

- One circle with a diameter of 12 cm from thick black paper

TIP: Place a cutting mat under the sheet to avoid damaging the work surface.

Cut 2 strips of approximately 7 x 1 cm from a black sheet.

Cut out a mouth from a white sheet.

Stick all elements with double-sided adhesive tape.

Then cut out about 25 circles of Ø 2.5 cm from a black sheet.

Here we used a puncher to speed things up!

Using double-sided adhesive tape, stick:

- The head onto the tissue paper ball
- 2 black circles in the center of the eyes

- 2 black circles on the tips of the antennas 

- About 21 black circles on the back of the ladybug

You can reuse this technique to create other animals like a frog or a whale for example.
