Glowing Pumpkin with a Paper Cup

To make a glowing pumpkin, you will need:

- a white cardboard cup

- drawing inks (magenta and yellow) + a brush

- a pipette

- a mixing pot

- an electric candle

- funny eyes to stick on

- a green caterpillar

- a black marker

- a precision cutter

The drawing ink used in this activity will allow children to easily create different shades of orange for their pumpkins.

Start by pouring yellow ink into a small pot, then add just a few drops of magenta ink and mix to achieve an orange shade.

Test the resulting color on a sheet of paper: if the orange is too light for your taste, add a few more drops of magenta to the mixture.

Paint the cardboard cups with your orange mixture.

Draw the mouth of the pumpkin with a black marker.

Using a small cutter, make 2 cross cuts above the mouth (spaced about 2 cm apart).

The first will be used to insert the electric candle to create the glowing nose of the pumpkin, the second will be used to insert the eyes.

Insert the "flame" of the electric candle into the first notch by passing it through the inside of the cup.

Insert a pair of funny eyes to plant in the second notch.

Draw fine black stripes around the cup.

Wrap a 30 cm green pipe cleaner around the marker to create the pumpkin's tail.

Make a small hole at the top of the cup and then insert the pumpkin stem.
