Create a charming homemade ghost train for Halloween! Using a simple paper cup, paint and some Halloween stickers, children can make a small train filled with ghosts, black cats and bats.
This easy Halloween craft is a great hands-on activity for children to do at home, school or in a leisure centre. It’s a fun and creative way to try DIY Halloween, recycle paper cups and make an original Halloween decoration. Get your brushes ready, the ghost train is waiting for its little passengers!

How to complete this tutorial step by step?
Material:
To make the ghost train, you will need:
- a white cardboard cup
- foam Halloween stickers
- wooden tokens
- black spider stickers
- adhesive rhinestone strips
- purple or orange acrylic paint and a paintbrush
- a precision craft knife
- a glue gun
Step 1:
Start by painting the outside of the cardboard cup with purple or orange acrylic paint, leaving the bottom of the cup white.
Let it dry for about 20 minutes before moving to the next step.
Step 2:
Warning: this step should be done by an adult.
Using a precision craft knife, cut two U-shaped slits into the cup as shown below.
Step 3:
Carefully lift the two cut tabs to create supports for the Halloween characters.
Make sure not to detach them from the cup.
Step 4:
Stick Halloween character stickers onto the tabs.
Position the characters upright so they stand out from the train.
Step 5:
Decorate the ghost train by sticking adhesive rhinestone strips around the two openings.
Step 6:
Use a glue gun to attach two wooden discs on each side of the cup to form the train’s four wheels.
Warning: the glue gun should be used by an adult only.
Step 7:
Stick a small black adhesive spider in the centre of each wooden wheel to add a Halloween touch.
Step 8:
Personalise the train by adding Halloween stickers on the sides: bats, sweets, ghosts…
Also stick a small pumpkin at the front to finish the decoration.
And there you have it! The ghost train is ready to carry its little passengers for Halloween! 🎃
