Glow-in-the-Dark Ghost and Handprint
With some modeling dough and glow-in-the-dark paint, children will be able to create wonderful Halloween decorations. Using their handprints, they will have fun making little ghosts that shine in the dark to decorate the house.
A simple and fun creative activity for children as young as 3 years old!
How to complete this tutorial step by step?
Materials
To make a ghost you need:
- white modeling clay
- embossing tools
- a modeling mat
- a small rolling pin
- glow-in-the-dark paint and a brush
- 2 googly eyes Ø 2.5 cm
- a black marker
- some string
- a pair of scissors
- a tube of strong white glue
- a straw or a pen cap (to make a small hole in the clay)
Step 1
Take a piece of modeling clay and roll it out on a modeling mat using a rolling pin.
Leave a thickness of about 5 to 8 mm.
Step 2
Press the handprint into the dough firmly.
Step 3
Trace the outline of the imprint using a wooden tool.
Step 4
Remove the excess dough around the handprint.
Step 5
Make a small hole in the dough using a straw or a pen / marker cap. This hole will allow us to hang the ghost later.
Let the imprint dry for 24 to 48 hours depending on the thickness. You can also flip the imprint at "half-dry" to ensure both sides dry well.
Step 6
Paint the handprint with glow-in-the-dark paint and let it dry for about 30 minutes.
Tip: for even more glow in the dark, apply a second coat!
Step 7
Stick on 2 moving eyes.
Step 8
Draw a smile using a black marker.
Step 9
Pass the cord through the hole and then make a double knot.
