Discover a wonderful activity themed around the ocean that allows children to create a small lamp/night light that they can display in their room.
Using just a plastic cup, some pretty fish stickers, and a wooden octopus, we will show you how to create a magnificent luminous piece of art in just 30 minutes !
This is a fun and educational way to explore the theme of the ocean and develop your children's manual and artistic skills. Join this underwater adventure and create a unique night light that will enchant and reassure your little ones every night !
How to complete this tutorial step by step?
Materials
To create a lovely nightlight, you will need:
- a translucent plastic cup
- a wooden octopus shape
- solid gouache sticks (pastel colors)
- 1.2 cm wiggle eyes
- fish stickers
- round rhinestone stickers
- burlap
- an LED candle
- a black marker
- a glue gun
- a pair of scissors
Step 1
Paint the wooden octopus with a solid poster paint stick and then let it dry for a few moments.
Note: The "pastel" assortment includes a blue, a purple, and a pink that will look amazing on the octopus!
Step 2
Cut a piece of burlap measuring 25 cm long and 3 cm wide.
Step 3
Glue the burlap onto the edge of the cup.
This strip will create a small "sandbank" effect to illustrate this little marine world.
Step 4
Decorate the cup with fish and sea animal stickers.
Step 5
Decorate the octopus with 2 googly eyes, a small smile, and some rhinestone stickers to stick on its tentacles.
Step 6
Glue the octopus to the top of the cup using the hot glue gun.
Step 7
Place an LED candle under the cup.
Note: we used a "powerful" LED candle for a better effect in the dark!
