Wool Butterflies

To make a butterfly, you need:

- 2 wooden sticks (length 11.4 cm)

- some wool

- a wooden bead Ø 2 cm

- 2 googly eyes Ø 1 cm

- a pipe cleaner (length: 30 cm)

- a fine tip black permanent marker

- a pair of scissors

Place 2 wooden sticks in an "X" shape.

Secure the sticks in this position by weaving yarn in a "cross" where the sticks intersect (about 5 to 6 rounds of yarn horizontally, then 5 to 6 rounds of yarn vertically).

Once the sticks are secured, braid the wool around them to form "8s".

To create two-colored butterfly wings, braid in a figure "8" for a few centimeters with a strand of wool, cut that strand, and then attach it to another strand of wool in a different color before continuing the braiding.

Continue braiding the first wing for a few centimeters and then tie a knot around a stick to secure the braiding.

Using the same technique, braid the other wing of the butterfly.

To make the butterfly's body, select a colored caterpillar measuring 30 cm and then fold it in half.

Place the butterfly in the center of the folded pipe cleaner (between the two wires) and then twist the pipe cleaner from both sides to hold the body of the butterfly and the wings together.

Glue 2 movable eyes Ø 1 cm onto a natural wood bead with a diameter of 2 cm.

Thread the wooden bead onto the two ends of the pipe cleaner, then bend these two ends to create the butterfly's antennas.

Finally, draw a smile using a fine-tip black permanent marker.
