Yvan the Polar Bear and the Northern Lights

For this activity, you will need:

- a downloadable/printable polar bear silhouette

- a strong white card (A4 - 300 g/m²)

- solid gouache sticks (light blue, dark blue, pink, white, and purple)

- mini adhesive star rhinestones

- 3D puff paint snow effect

- white paint and a brush

- a pair of scissors

- adhesive gel dots

Create the background of the drawing on a thick white A4 card by making stripes with light blue, dark blue, pink, and purple solid gouache sticks.

Next, soften the colors with a solid white gouache stick.

Apply a layer with solid poster paint sticks to finish the aurora borealis effect. 

If you haven't tried solid poster paint sticks yet, you're going to love them! They allow for a very opaque paint effect without getting your fingers dirty and with nearly instant drying. An ideal product for young children.

Once it is dry, draw the snowy ground with a solid white poster paint stick.

Put white paint on a brush and then tap it on the paint tube to splatter the drawing.

This technique will create a beautiful starry sky effect.

Print our template by clicking here, then cut out the silhouette of the polar bear along the contours.

Glue the silhouette in the center of the drawing with adhesive gel dots.

The dots will create a nice 3D effect

Glue star rhinestones all around the polar bear.

Finally, apply a thick layer of snow effect paste onto the snow-covered ground.

Then, allow the drawing to dry flat for a few hours before hanging it up.
